Dear friends, I have seen many times that when we want to have an image in particular size say 8in x 10in and we have it in some other size (usually this happens when we have a digital picture taken from some camera.) In this case There is very easy way to do it using photoshop.

1. Select The Crop Tool

The first thing we need to do is select the Crop Tool, so either grab it from the Tools palette or press the letter C on your keyboard to select it with the shortcut:

2. Enter The Exact Print Dimensions You Need In The Options Bar

With the Crop Tool selected, if you look up in the Options Bar at the top of the screen, you'll see a Width and Height option where you can enter in the exact width and height you need, along with the type of measurement (inches, centimeters, pixels, etc). Since I want to crop my image to a 10x8", I'm going to enter 10 into the Width option, followed by a "in" which stands for "inches". Then I'll enter 8 into the Height option followed by another "in" for "inches":

3: Drag Out A Cropping Border

Once you've entered the exact size you need, simply click inside your image and drag out a cropping border. The area inside the border is the part of the photo you'll be keeping, and everything outside the border (which appears darker) will be cropped away. You'll notice as you drag that the shape of your border is now fixed, and that's because we set the aspect ratio of the border when we entered the exact width and height we needed into the Options Bar. The only thing we can do is adjust the overall size of the border by dragging any of the four corner handles. You can also reposition the border inside the image by moving your cursor inside the border (it will change into a black arrow), then clicking and dragging the border around with your mouse:

Removing duplicates from a spreadsheet was a timely task, till now but fortunately with Excel 2007 this can be done in fraction of seconds. Here’s how…

1. First of all Select the range of data in your spreadsheet.

2. Now go to Data Ribbon.

3. In the Data Tools section, click Remove Duplicates.

4. In the Remove Duplicates dialog box, check the column(s) you want searched for duplicates. You should check all columns that need to be a match to be considered a duplicate to prevent the accidental removal of data you wish to keep.

5. Click OK.

A message will tell you how many duplicate values were found and removed and how many unique values remain in your data. If the result is not what you desired, hit Ctrl+Z to undo the removal of the duplicates and try again.

Although a book could be written on how people without any quality website or with third world traffic (from North Africa, India, China) make thousand dollars every day in Adsense, this article will just highlight prominent reasons why AdSense accounts are disabled.

MFA – Made For Adsense : Yes, sounds right, this is the biggest reason nowadays why Google disables Adsense accounts. People with no intention of building a quality website often create websites with content copy-pasted from Wikipedia or Other websites. They are not interested in providing any ORIGINAL content. MFA sites are usually 5 – 10 posts long and with Adsense codes pasted all over the pages. Whenever someone opens such a site, all one sees is clickable Adsense ads with little or no content. Such sites have very CTR (click through rate), often 5 or 7 out of every 10 visitors click on an Ad. If you have cheap or free traffic, you can make Serious Money that way. Google knows this and disables every MFA site it comes across.

Click Fraud : This is the dumbest way to get your Adsense account disabled. Google tracks every click made on every ad across its network. It knows if Ads are being clicked intentionally or normally. Clicking on your ads at home or taking a trip to your local cafe to do the same is the sure shot way to Disablement.

How to change the Location of IE Favorites

Create a new folder in drive D: which is separated from the Windows drive. In this tutorial I name the folder to be “Favorites“.
Click Start > Run and type regedit then press Enter.
In the Registry Editor window, Go to the path like below,

In the right hand panel of the Registry Editor window, Find the string name Favorites and double click on it.

Again find the Favorites string and double click on it.

20 things you didn't know about Windows XP

You've read the reviews and digested the key feature enhancements and operational changes. Now it's time to delve a bit deeper and uncover some of Windows XP's secrets.

1. It boasts how long it can stay up. Whereas previous versions of Windows were coy about how long they went between boots, XP is positively proud of its stamina. Go to the Command Prompt in the Accessories menu from the All Programs start button option, and then type 'systeminfo'. The computer will produce a lot of useful info, including the uptime. If you want to keep these, type 'systeminfo > info.txt'. This creates a file called info.txt you can look at later with Notepad. (Professional Edition only).

2. You can delete files immediately, without having them move to the Recycle Bin first. Go to the Start menu, select Run... and type 'gpedit.msc'; then select User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Explorer and find the Do not move deleted files to the Recycle Bin setting. Set it. Poking around in gpedit will reveal a great many interface and system options, but take care -- some may stop your computer behaving as you wish. (Professional Edition only).

3. You can lock your XP workstation with two clicks of the mouse. Create a new shortcut on your desktop using a right mouse click, and enter 'rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation' in the location field. Give the shortcut a name you like. That's it -- just double click on it and your computer will be locked. And if that's not easy enough, Windows key + L will do the same.

4. XP hides some system software you might want to remove, such as Windows Messenger, but you can tickle it and make it disgorge everything. Using Notepad or Edit, edit the text file /windows/inf/sysoc.inf, search for the word 'hide' and remove it. You can then go to the Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel, select Add/Remove Windows Components and there will be your prey, exposed and vulnerable.

5. For those skilled in the art of DOS batch files, XP has a number of interesting new commands. These include 'eventcreate' and 'eventtriggers' for creating and watching system events, 'typeperf' for monitoring performance of various subsystems, and 'schtasks' for handling scheduled tasks. As usual, typing the command name followed by /? will give a list of options -- they're all far too baroque to go into here.

6. XP has IP version 6 support -- the next generation of IP. Unfortunately this is more than your ISP has, so you can only experiment with this on your LAN. Type 'ipv6 install' into Run... (it's OK, it won't ruin your existing network setup) and then 'ipv6 /?' at the command line to find out more. If you don't know what IPv6 is, don't worry and don't bother.

7. You can at last get rid of tasks on the computer from the command line by using 'taskkill /pid' and the task number, or just 'tskill' and the process number. Find that out by typing 'tasklist', which will also tell you a lot about what's going on in your system.

8. XP will treat Zip files like folders, which is nice if you've got a fast machine. On slower machines, you can make XP leave zip files well alone by typing 'regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll' at the command line. If you change your mind later, you can put things back as they were by typing 'regsvr32 zipfldr.dll'.

9. XP has ClearType -- Microsoft's anti-aliasing font display technology -- but doesn't have it enabled by default. It's well worth trying, especially if you were there for DOS and all those years of staring at a screen have given you the eyes of an astigmatic bat. To enable ClearType, right click on the desktop, select Properties, Appearance, Effects, select ClearType from the second drop-down menu and enable the selection. Expect best results on laptop displays. If you want to use ClearType on the Welcome login screen as well, set the registry entry HKEY_USERS/.DEFAULT/Control Panel/Desktop/FontSmoothingType to 2.

10. You can use Remote Assistance to help a friend who's using network address translation (NAT) on a home network, but not automatically. Get your pal to email you a Remote Assistance invitation and edit the file. Under the RCTICKET attribute will be a NAT IP address, like 192.168.1.10. Replace this with your chum's real IP address -- they can find this out by going to www.whatismyip.com -- and get them to make sure that they've got port 3389 open on their firewall and forwarded to the errant computer.

11. You can run a program as a different user without logging out and back in again. Right click the icon, select Run As... and enter the user name and password you want to use. This only applies for that run. The trick is particularly useful if you need to have administrative permissions to install a program, which many require. Note that you can have some fun by running programs multiple times on the same system as different users, but this can have unforeseen effects.

12. Windows XP can be very insistent about you checking for auto updates, registering a Passport, using Windows Messenger and so on. After a while, the nagging goes away, but if you feel you might slip the bonds of sanity before that point, run Regedit, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/Advanced and create a DWORD value called EnableBalloonTips with a value of 0.

13. You can start up without needing to enter a user name or password. Select Run... from the start menu and type 'control userpasswords2', which will open the user accounts application. Here's a cool little arrow trick to try with word processing programs. Next time you're using your arrow keys to go from one area of a sentence to another (left and right arrows), hold down your CTRL key. Instead of moving one space at a time, you'll go one word at a time.
If you're using the up and down arrows to go from line to line, holding down the CTRL key will make your cursor jump from paragraph to paragraph (well, from carriage return to carriage return anyway).
One last thing, if you hold down the SHIFT key while you do this (i.e. hold down SHIFT + CTRL at the same time), you select text as you arrow along.
I've tested this in MS Word and Wordpad, but it *should* work no matter what word processing program you use. HOME / END KEY FUN

BOSTON - From clothes riddled with sensors to name tags that detect our moods, computing's next wave could unleash small devices that increasingly augment everyday activities with digital intelligence.

That was the predominant vision at a conference on "wearable computing" held this week in Boston, where researchers showed off prototypes and discussed ideas.

Some attendees took wearable computing to its extreme, donning cyborg-like miniaturized displays attached to eyepieces. But most of what was on exhibit seemed much closer to jumping into a mainstream commercial product.

For example, researchers from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (known as ETH Zurich) showed off stretchable, threadlike sensors that can be woven into shirts to detect their wearers' posture. People with back pain or injuries could be prompted on a PC or a mobile device to straighten up, pronto.

Stephane Beauregard of Germany's University of Bremen displayed a shoe-borne sensor whose tiny accelerometers perform electronic dead reckoning — providing real-time location tracking in places satellite navigation systems either can't reach or can't describe with precision. For now the sensor has to be held in place by the shoelaces, but Beauregard expects a version that can fit inside a boot heel could be a year away. His first intended market is firefighters and other emergency responders.

Graduate students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Media Lab had black plastic badges around their necks that analyze multiple factors — including motion and speech patterns — to detect the level of engagement two people are exhibiting in a conversation.

Information gathered from the badges, which weigh just a few ounces and are a bit smaller than a deck of cards, can be sent wirelessly to a computer or a phone to give their wearers helpful tips. Sales reps could be advised that a customer's interest seems to be waning. A doctor could be alerted to indications of depression in a patient being monitored remotely.

The badges might find their first use in gathering reams of data for social network analysis, the study of how groups form and interact. There's big money in applying such research in corporations, which want to ensure that important knowledge doesn't stay trapped in organizational silos. But a lot of data for social network analysis is gathered from e-mail traffic, which only says so much about how people connect with each other.

MIT graduate student Daniel Olguin Olguin said the devices were tested on 25 employees at a German bank and produced surprising insights about alternative ways the office might be laid out. Now Hitachi Ltd. is interested in making the badges for corporate consultants to use with their clients, he said.

Each badge could probably be made for under $100, "and in the future, of course, all of this will be smaller and integrated into your name card," Olguin said.

A prototype shown off by Carsten Mehring of the Colorado School of Mines was far more about convenience. He has embedded sensors into gloves so that snowboarders or motorists could control portable music devices with the faintest squeeze of their fingers — and nary a glance away from a snowy slope or the road.

"The idea," he said, "is to wear your remote, not to carry it."

Sure, sometimes it can be difficult trying to remember exactly what you named a document or where you stored it, but you shouldn’t need to open every document on your computer to find the right one.

If you spend more time looking for your files than you do working on them, then it is time to take control of your hard drive and take advantage of some of the organizational abilities your computer affords you.

You don’t need to be obsessive about keeping things in order, but even a few simple steps can help you out immensely. This is especially important if you’re working in a multi-user environment where other users will need to access your files.

If the idea of getting your files is daunting, then that is all the more reason you should get started on it immediately! Here are some tips that will help get you going:

1. Use Unique File Names
This is perhaps the easiest -- and most important -- thing you can do to help when it comes time to sort through files to find the one you want.
It is fast and effective!

2. File Document in Folders
There is a reason your operating system allows the creation of folders and nested folders. Just like your filing cabinet, it provides a way for you to group like documents and speed the process of finding what you need.

3. Update Document Properties
If you’re working with massive quantities of documents that will have similar names and locations on your hard drive, you’ll definitely want to take advantage of Word’s document properties feature. You can include notes and keywords in the properties, so that when it comes time to do a search, Word can find exactly what you need.

4. Include Document Previews
Get a quick peek at the contents of your document before you open it. You may have to do a little reading, but at least you’ll save some time opening and closing all those files!

5. Take Advantage of Word’s Versioning Feature
Okay, this might not exactly make it easier for you to find your file, but it can help narrow the number of files you need to search. By storing versions of the same document all in one file, you won’t have to sift through countless variations of the same document to find the one you need. Plus, the latest version of the document is always the one that opens.

6. Specify the File Path in a Header or Footer
This might not help you keep your hard drive organized, but it will help you when you have a hard copy of the document you need to edit.

If your hard drive is already brimming with files, don’t try to tackle your organizational problems all at once. Try to break it down into manageable pieces and spend fifteen minutes a day working on it. (Hint: A great way to start would be to create folders so you can start filing the documents).

While some experts will tell you that each view has a specific purpose, most users will likely pick a view that they are most comfortable with and stick with it for the majority of the work they do in Word, occasionally switching to a different view when a specific task requires it.

For the most part, you can use any view when you’re working in Word, regardless of what you’re doing.

The catch, however, is that the document view does actually affect what document element you see when you’re working, rather than just the overall look of the document on the screen.

Document appears with a dotted line separating the pages and/or document sections.

Web Layout
Designed to show you how your document will look as a web page, with the text wrapping as it would in a web browser. Backgrounds and formatting will appear as they would in a web browser.

Print Layout

Outline

5 Formatting Mistakes to Avoid in Microsoft Word

Creating professional quality documents with your word processor isn’t difficult; in fact, the default options in most word processing software are perfect for creating top-notch documents every time.

However, when you start changing the default options and apply special formats to your text, it is just as easy to end up with a poorly designed document that is less than appealing to your reader.

When you’re formatting your document and changing things such as margins, fonts, and typefaces, here are some things to think about:

1. Margins that are too big or too small

Most of the time your software’s default margins will do just fine, providing the optimum amount of white space. If you’re tempted to fit two pages of text onto one piece of paper by adjusting the margins, don’t even think about it -- your reader will tire quickly from reading the document, as the white space allows one to rest one’s eyes.

If you’re trying to make your document longer by increasing the margins, you’ll look like a high school student trying to fool their English teacher.

2. Inconsistent spacing

The margins aren’t the only white space on the page that require attention: You should consider every space you add to your document. The first thing you should look for is consistency -- are you using one or two spaces between sentences and do you stick with it, are you adding one or two blank lines between paragraphs, are your indents in a neat row, etc.

After you check for consistency, you should evaluate whether you’re giving your readers the right amount of white space between paragraphs and other elements on your page. Remember -- Too little and it will look scrunched up and be difficult to read; too much and it looks like you’re padding.

3. Too many fonts

Nothing is more jarring than a document that uses too many fonts, and, for the record, more than one font is often too many. You should stick with a single font for your document -- preferably a serifed font, as they are easier to read.

If you have titles or section headings, a second sans-serif font may be appropriate, although not a necessity. Outside of that, there really is no reason to use multiple fonts. Period.

4. Fonts that are too big or too small

Just as margins and spacing can add or detract from your document’s readability, so can the size of your font. It is no secret why Times New Roman 12 is the default font in Word.

No, not because it is a conservative, business-like font, but because it is easy to read. If you go any larger than 12 it will look like you’re trying to pad your document. Go any smaller and your readers will need a magnifying glass.

5. Too much special formatting

One of the problems with today’s feature-rich word processing programs is that users are always tempted to take advantage of all the formatting options available to them. This spells disaster for the look of a document.

Generally speaking, things such as ornate borders and colored fonts have no place in a professional document, except under special circumstances. They make documents difficult to read and distract from the content.

Along the same line, things you might not consider special formatting -- bold, italic, and underline typefaces can be included in this category. Don’t overuse them; save them for emphasis, headings, or citations.

If you stick to these rules and proofread your work carefully for spelling and grammatical errors, you will produce well formatted, easy to read documents every time.
